Attempt to sort by Composer, then inspect the retained Title indication and visible Composer values.

How is it judged?

01 · Given
Restore the data and starting state.
The authenticated Songs list shows four songs with distinct Composer values, and Composer is enabled through Columns To Display. The initial Title-ascending rows are Amber Waltz (Clara Vale), Blue Nocturne (Ada Rowan), Cedar Prelude (Dorian Lake), and Dawn Sonata (Bruno Reed). The availability of Composer sorting is part of the behavior being assessed, not a prerequisite for a repaired UI.

02 · When
Perform the interaction.
Inspect the Composer column header and attempt to request ascending Composer order by clicking it once, then observe the settled column indicators and row order. If the header is non-sortable, still click it as an attempt.

03 · Judge
Rationale: A sort indicator acknowledges an applied order. Claiming Composer order while retaining Title order gives false feedback; either implementing that order or truthfully withholding the unsupported action preserves readable metadata and trustworthy sorting.
Require
Keep all four songs and their Composer values accessible. If Composer sorting is offered, ascending selection must produce ascending Composer order with a matching indication. If unsupported, offer no enabled Composer sort action or active Composer indication, and clicking the header must not claim success. Every active sort indication must match the actual row order.
Allowed
  • Implementing real Composer sorting is acceptable, whether on the server or client.
  • Removing the unsupported Composer sort affordance is also acceptable: a plain non-sortable header or an explicitly disabled sorting control may retain the existing valid Title ordering. This does not require adding a Composer sorting feature.
  • When sorting is unavailable, a tooltip or explanation is optional; a fake successful sort indication is not acceptable.
  • Composer must remain displayable with its existing values; hiding the column or discarding songs does not satisfy this contract.
  • Equivalent indicators, styling, and irrelevant tie-breaking or non-ASCII collation may vary.
